Dr Alfonso Rao

For Dr Alfonso Rao, dentistry runs in the blood. He is from a long line of dentists and clinicians.
Alfonso’s journey into dentistry began at Chieti University in Italy where as the youngest of his year group, aged just 23 he graduated with distinction.
He worked as an oral surgeon in Caserta, Napoli and Pescara before moving to the UK in 2009. He initially practised in Lincoln, Bath and Cheltenham before settling in Bristol, where he opened his first clinics.
Alfonso also co-founded Bristol’s Delta Dental Training Academy which is now a leading centre of excellence for training in oral surgery, implantology and cosmetic dentistry.
Alfonso has continued training extensively since graduation. Most notably, he gained a three-year diploma in implant dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute of London and also completed training with the Global Institute for Dental Education in Los Angeles (2014).
Alfonso mainly focuses on his twin passions: implant dentistry and Invisalign treatment.
Ambassador
He is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry. He is also a brand ambassador and key opinion leader for dental technology companies including Strauman, Geistlich, NSK and more.
Alfonso is passionate about charitable causes and has spent time in Ethiopia improving access to dental services.
